Description

A study of the ethical and legal issues involved in dental care delivery as well as office management procedures.

Prerequisites

Students are required to pass prerequisite courses with a grade of C or higher. Exceptions apply; please consult your department chair.
Learning Outcomes

 Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Assess personal goals in relation to the ethical standards of the dental hygiene profession.
  2. Develop the skills necessary for identifying ethical dilemmas, and ethical decision making in dental hygiene.
  3. Apply governance of state and federal laws to the practice of dental hygiene.
  4. Explain the concept of risk management within the practice of dental hygiene and compose protocols to minimize risk.
  5. escribe the basic structure and functions of the American Dental Hygienist’s Association.
  6. Identify and analyze relevant education, experience, and skills to effectively write a resume and interview for employment as a dental hygienist.
  7. Compare and contrast various dental practice settings and management models.
