College Composition introduces students to academic writing as a process of inquiry, reflection, and communication. Through reading, discussion, and research, students
explore relevant issues from multiple perspectives and develop informed, evidence-based positions. Along with the writing process, the course reinforces critical reading, critical thinking, and formal documentation as foundational to academic inquiry, with emphasis on curiosity-driven learning, information literacy, and ethical research practices. This course meets the same objectives as ENGL 101C and also embeds topics typically covered in a first-year experience course, such as career and major research, priority management and study skills such as note-taking, test-taking, and critical hinking. Students who have received credit for this course cannot also receive credit for ENGL101MC, ENGL101C, ENGL101XC, GST100C, or GST102C.
