Description

This course will examine healthcare insurance and its role within the U.S. healthcare system. Students will learn the history and development of healthcare insurance, including Medicare and Medicaid, the VA insurance system, commercial insurance, and self-financed/self-insured. Concepts include eligibility, deductibles, co-pays, co-insurance, explanation of benefits (EOB), covered services, in-network, and out-of-network benefits.

Prerequisites

Students are required to pass prerequisite courses with a grade of C or higher. Exceptions apply; please consult your department chair.
