Course Description
VRTS197C - Introduction to Graphic Design Graphic design is art and practice of marrying words and images together to communicate unique ideas or experiences. There are applications for design across the print and digital worlds and students will explore some of the key design programs, including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. Focusing on creating their own self-promotional materials, students will learn how to develop and refine concepts, understand file requirements for both print and digital products, basic typography, and how to create final usable products. Using the design process, students will develop thoughtful solutions that they will then produce as final products in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop. This class is designed for all Visual Arts students and as a General elective. (Prerequisite: working knowledge of Microsoft Windows environment. Recommended but not required: experience with Adobe products.)
