Course Description
ENGL221GC - Film Genres & Directors: Darkness & Light: Film Noir Utilizing viewings, lectures and class discussion and emphasizing film theory, criticism and history, Darkness & Light: Film Noir explores the origins of Film Noir and examines not only pre-noir films but also noir films of the classic period as well as noir films of the post-classic and modern periods. (Prerequisite: ENGL 101C, or equivalent, or permission of the Department Head of English; an introductory level literature course is highly recommended)
